NOTES ON THE PERFORMANCE

In 2013, Patrice Chéreau directed his last work, Elektra. As one of the greatest directors of the 20th century, he concluded his artistic journey at La Scala, a career that took its first steps with Strehler at the Piccolo Teatro, and that in later years had brought unforgettable spectacles to the stage of the Piermarini. That tense and essential Elektra now returns with the austere sets of Richard Peduzzi and a great conductor: Christoph von Dohnányi returns to La Scala to conduct his first production since Moses and Aaron in 1977, with Ricarda Merbeth, Waltraud Meier and Michael Volle in the leading roles.
